Emory UAEM
Universities Allied for Essential Medicines - Emory University Chapter
At the intersection of healthcare, medical research, and law, the Emory UAEM seeks to advocate for research at Emory into neglected diseases and contract stipulations which enable affordable production and vending of drugs in lower income countries. We also report on and seek to make easily understandable: healthcare laws, the pharmaceutical industry, and new developments in the fight against neglected diseases.
We are guided by 4 goals
-
Understand how contracts for Emory developed medicines are sold to drug companies and advocate for stipulations that promise affordable production and vending in lower income countries.
-
Educate the student body about neglected diseases, and push for more support of research into neglected diseases by Emory.
-
Report on new developments in the fight against neglected diseases, as well issues pertaining to ethical access of drugs and medical care.
-
Improve understanding of American healthcare and health insurance laws and policy
